Level 2 SIA approved CCTV (PSS) operators course

Who is this course for?

This course is a 3-day online/ classroom ‘Level 2 Award for CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) in the Private Security Industry (RQF) and’ is designed to equip new CCTV (PSS) Operators with the knowledge and practical experience required to join the ‘Private Security Industry’. If you are looking to be employed as a CCTV Operator in stadiums, commercial premises, construction sites, hotels, shopping centres, festivals, or private residence, this is the course for you.

Course Length

This course is 3 days and is made up of blended learning. This means that days 1-2 are held online via zoom in real-time and day 3 is held in the classroom for practical assessments.

You will also be required to register and complete a short online video assisted eLearning course for Anti-terrorism and complete a workbook, which is required to satisfy 8 hours of distance learning for the ‘Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry’ module.

Course content

This course is made up of 2 modules:

Module 1 - Working in the private security industry

Module 2 - Working as a CCTV Operator within the private security industry

Assessment

This qualification is assessed by practical demonstrations, evidential statements, completed workbooks and 2 multiple choice exams.

Exam number 1 – Principles of working in the private security industry. This is a 72 question multiple choice exam and you are required to obtain a minimum of 70% correct to pass. This equates to 50/72 minimum

Exam number 2 – Principles of working as a CCTV Operator within the private security industry. This is a 40 question multiple choice exam and you are required to get a minimum of 70% correct to pass. This equates to 28/40

Practical assessments are internally assessed and marked by the instructor. You must pass all assessments to be successful.
