This qualification is for those whose have a requirement to become first aiders in the workplace. The content of the qualification meets the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Health and Safety
Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI) requirements for training first aiders in those organisations that
have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment.
The recommended minimum age is 14 years old for anyone wishing to participate.
1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
2. assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries, anaphylaxis and auto-injectors.
3. Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
4. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty using CPR and using a Defibrillator
5. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
6. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
8. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
This is a 3 day course which is made up using blended learning, meaning that 2 days are held mandatory in the classroom and the 3rd day is self study. You will be provided with all the relevant self study and pre course learning on registration and it is a requirement that this is completed before the 1st day of your classroom training.
This course is assessed by:
Successful candidates will receive a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work which is valid for 3 years
